WHat is Punk?

Punk was the most exciting thing ever to happen to music. It did not just change music, it changed everything from fine arts to fashion. What started as an obnoxious noise made by a bunch of scrawny social misfits mushroomed into a worldwide phenomenon that touched the lives of millions. Punk was an international outsider aesthetic. It spread from the US trough the UK and went worldwide. For anyone who felt cast out because of class, sexuality, perception, gender... It was truly a revelation that showed that anybody could be what they wanted to be and stand/fight for their own beliefs. To reject the future that society has planned for you. Independence was key, nobody else was needed to be able to to what you wanted to do, or create what you wanted to create. When Punk became mainstream it spawned new extractions like Post-Punk, New-Wave and Hardcore Punk. Till this day there are still plenty of genuine punks, whether it’s in music, art or fashion. Punk will always be around, punk is a mentality, a fire within, a statement and not just a fashionable hype. Punk will always be alive, never dead.
